University data/communication services interruption

Interruption to Baylor Waco campus data & communication services

Baylor University’s Waco campus is currently experiencing an interruption of core data and communication services across the university due to the activation of the fire suppression system in the university’s data center. 

Crews are on site to ensure the safety of the environment and gradually restore services. There is no timeline for repairs. Updates will be available at www.baylorupdates.com and via the university’s official social media channels.

There is no disruption to the university’s email system.

The following services are down:

  • www.baylor.edu
  • Banner
  • Bearweb
  • Phone systems. At this time, calls can be made internally from extension to extension, but no outbound or inbound calls can be made.

Contacting BUPD – At this time, if you need to reach the Baylor University Police Department (BUPD) and are calling from a cellphone or off-campus phone, please call 254-652-2536. If you are calling from a university extension, BUPD can be reached at x2222. In addition, the emergency blue light phones on campus are still operational, as is the BU Campus Guardian smartphone app to contact BUPD in the event of an emergency.

Ignite – University personnel who need to access Ignite should use the direct link.

DOWN Line – DOWN line for ITS is working for people on campus, but not for off-campus. If you are on campus, report issues at x3696. Issues also can be reported through https://helpdesk.baylor.edu or [email protected]
